Old on.. it's SRK!

If Shah Rukh Khan’s portrayal of an old man in the movie Veer Zaara left you wanting for more, then here’s something to look out for.

In an upcoming ad for Dish TV, SRK has donned an avatar of a 75-year-old man who romances his wife behind closed doors by dancing with her. Anurag Basu, of Kites fame, who’s directed this ad says, “The story is very cute. Tanvi Azmi is playing Shah Rukh’s wife. They’re hiding inside their room and are dancing.” Anurag, together with adman Prasoon Joshi, the brain behind the concept, planned the look and the ad. “We didn’t know if SRK will agree to the idea. I didn’t want to make him Veer Zaara kinda old. It had to be different. So, pehle Shah Rukh ko buddha banaya humne pictures mein, and then showed it to him. He was very sporting and loved the idea,” says Anurag.

While his contemporaries are playing college-students in movies, isn’t it a leap of faith for SRK to add 30 years to his real age? Prasoon says, “He liked the script a lot. Probably he never got a script like that before. His first reaction was, ‘Well, I love it!’ He probably he trusted my work. He didn’t take time to say yes.”

Prasoon adds, “Everybody has been going wow over the ad. He has emoted really well. There is a beautiful chemistry between him and Tanvi Azmi.” The bald look in the ad, says Shah Rukh, was something he was excited about since he’s very sure that he’d never lose hair in real life! When asked how his wife, Gauri Khan, reacted to the way he looked, Anurag responded, “Shah Rukh called his make-up guy and gave him the brief on how to do his look. After the whole get-up was done, he did something very cute.

He clicked a picture of himself and sent it to Gauri on the phone, asking, ‘Will you still love me when I am old and look like this?’ I am sure he will look much more handsome when he is old!”

Anushka has no time for home

Anushka Sharma, who made her Bollywood splash in YRF’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi opposite Shah Rukh Khan last year, has bought a three-bedroom apartment at Yari Road in Andheri.

Although she bought the flat a month ago and has already shifted there, she was hardly at home, owing to her extensive travels for film shootings. A source says, “Anushka has been on a house hunting spree for a while now. Last month, she finally bought a three-bedroom apartment at Yari Road in Mumbai. Anushka shifted base to Mumbai a couple of years ago from Bangalore. Earlier, she stayed at the army colony in Malad. This is the first time that the actress has bought a house on her own and is very excited about it.”

Confirming the news, Anushka says, “I feel good about being able to buy a house at the age of 21. However, I am dying to be at home as I have had no time to actually enjoy it. First, I was away in the US for 40 days and now I am in Bangkok for a month.”

Shah Rukh is funny: Amitabh

Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan says Shah Rukh Khan left him in a jovial mood after the latter called him to confirm his presence at the premiere of upcoming film "Paa".

"Shah Rukh has remained with me in the late afternoon. He is a very funny man and shakes me into joviality when I inform him about the premiere and his absolute presence there. He tells me, 'He is already there, black suited and with anticipation of seeing 'Paa'," Amitabh posted on his blog. "Aamir too communicates today and confirms his presence," he added.

The cast and crew of "Paa" - including Amitabh, Abhishek and director R. Balakrishnan have major plans for the film's premiere Dec 3 in Mumbai. Amitabh plays a 12-year-old progeria patient in "Paa" and he had to stick on several pieces of specially crafted clay to get the right look for the movie. The disease causes premature ageing among children.

International make-up artist Stephan Dupuis designed Big B's look and the megastar had to sit for five-six hours for the make-up. The 67-year-old says he is now anxious about how the audience and critics will react to the film. "Slowly but surely the jig saw puzzle will begin to unfold. The test of all our hours and hours of effort at the film shall now be up for scrutiny. And within two hours and 14 minutes the verdict shall be passed. Once passed, shall remain passed. Such is the destiny of those that participate in this wondrous game of filmmaking," he said. The film is releasing Dec 4.
